Jonathan David Edwards, is a former English triple jumper and widely regarded as the finest triple jumper of all time. He is a former Olympic, European and World champion, and has held the world record in the event since 1995. He has won the Sydney Olympic games in 2000 and he is also two time World Champion. He lives with his wife Alison in Gosforth, Tyneside and also has a flat in London. Edwards attended West Buckland School where his potential for the triple jump was spotted at an early age. He was a strong all-rounder and on leaving received the school's top award for sporting and academic excellence, the Fortescue Medal. His world record is 18.29 m that made him the first to jump 60 feet. Following his retirement, Edwards pursued a media career as a television presenter mainly working for the BBC as a sports commentator and on programmes such as Songs of Praise until he gave up this programme, due to his loss of faith, in February 2007. He is a member of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, representing athletes in the organisation of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
He was in Estonia 05.03.2003 during the Jumping Gala 2003 in Audentes Sports Hall. He won the competition with a result of 17.05 meters and the second place was Karl Tailpierre with 16.89 meters.
